Hello, hello! I hope everyone is having a great weekend!  I have been busy enjoying the summer, and finalizing my latest article: “How Can We Live Life at a Slower Pace?” In the article, I share how we can stay Zen in a stressed-out society. Also, Corpus Christi psychologist Dennis Ramos, discusses the importance of daily meditation. Mr. Ramos has been kind enough to provide his expertise for several of my articles. The feeling of happiness and accomplishment I feel when I read the email saying my piece was published will never get old, never!

Hi Nunzia!

Something New is Happening on the Blog!

I would like to announce some upcoming changes with this blog. Every week, I will choose an item that has caught my attention, and write a full review on it. The item can be anything: makeup, clothing, etc. In the past, I would review all the items from my monthly Ipsy bag in one blog post. This time, I would like to focus my attention on one item at a time.
I have already purchased some new things, and let you know my thoughts on it. I’m so excited!
Cooking with Nunzia!
Cooking is my passion! Every week, I like to post my favorite meals and desserts that I prepare for my family on my blog. All these recipes will be available in the cookbook I am writing.
Working on projects and challenging myself each day makes me happy. When I was an educator, I would always tell students to learn something new every day.
Yes, in case you are wondering, I miss the classroom.
Claudio
Our 1-year anniversary of adopting Claudio from the Humane Society will be on August 12th.
So many dogs need homes. If you are considering a new puppy, or even an older dog, be sure to visit the shelter.
This little guy has brought so much joy into our lives. He has learned how to jump on our couch and bed. When he is tired, he makes the cutest little sounds. Almost a year later, nothing brings me more joy than chasing Claudio around the house. He is still in the puppy stage, so he tries to eat everything on the floor and in the yard.
I know how fast time goes by in this life, so I pick every opportunity during my free time to play and cuddle with him. Puppies are just like children in that they need lots of love and attention.
Until Next Time

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend. I will be back next week with my “Pick of the Week.” Stay tuned!

We are all unique and beautiful human beings.
XoXo!

Rambling on and on!

Hello, my friends! Things have been super busy in my neck of the woods. I’m currently finishing up an article, and I’m also working on a project that I had set aside. Juggling too many things is difficult. As soon as I can, I will share more details with you all.
Are you guys getting ready for the 4th of July? I love having friends over for BBQ. I have already ordered a cute shirt that is appropriate for the holiday, with the words “This girl loves the USA and Foo Fighters” on the front. I will post a few pictures on my blog as soon as I receive that shirt. Come on, UPS!

Visit with Friends!

We spent this Saturday in the country with our friends Terry and Kaye. We just love to go out there. Ahhh, country living: fresh air, wide-open spaces, and a slower, calmer life, can lower anyone’s blood pressure. What’s not to love? The view from the swing where I was sitting was utterly breathtaking.
It was a perfect day! Everyone brought delicious food.  Cooking has always been one of my hobbies.

My Pick of the Week
We all know that a good mascara can make a huge difference in your appearance. It brings a lot of attention to your eyes. I am so picky when it comes to mascara. I often find myself using multiple products to achieve the look that I have in mind.
I have been using this for about a week now, and it is the bomb. I swiped two coats onto my lashes and boom, I was in love with it. I knew immediately that I had found what I was looking for for a very long time. Yes, I’m sticking to this one, ladies!
I love that the brush is big enough to separate every eyelash, giving me that beautiful, voluminous look. It really holds the curls all day. Last week, I went for a run at my health club, and I noticed it did not smudge. The eyelashes looked fresh without flaking. I also noticed that it rinsed off easily without a fuss.
This product really makes the lashes look longer and fuller without looking clumpy. I’m totally in love with it. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Memories from last year in Italy! This is my sister’s house!
Claudio
This past week, Claudio learned how to jump on the couch and all the high beds we have in the house.
Also, when he is hungry or frustrated, Claudio gets very vocal, and will not stop until we understand what he is asking for.
Okay, we will chat soon on my next update.
XO,
Nunzia

Ciao a tutti! Claudio refuses to cooperate with the camera!

Hello, ladies! This little peanut continues to amaze me each day. He is becoming more adorable and mischievous. I can’t believe that he is already 12 months old. As you can see on these pictures, my fur baby is annoyed with the camera. He normally loves to take pictures, but not this time.

Father’s Day!
I hope this new week is bringing you relaxation and joy. In our house, this past weekend, we celebrated Father’s Day with a great brunch at my hubby’s favorite spot in town. My husband is a huge soccer fan, so, with the World Cup currently on, he is in heaven. He is trying his best not to miss any games.

How many of you are following this event? As you know, I’m a huge soccer fan. I have been diligently, but without any enthusiasm, following the games. Both my native and adopted countries, Italy and USA, did not qualify for the World Cup. The feelings of sadness and frustration are there every time I see a game on TV.
Does your style change as you get older?
This past weekend, I did some shopping and purchased a few  adorable pair of jeans for a great price. I did not feel like this years ago. I was not a huge fan of ripped jeans. It is interesting how much our styles change over time.
As I get older, my style is becoming more simple. I refuse to stand out and look ridiculous. I like to dress more conservatively. Although I noticed, in fashion, that the geographic location makes a difference.
During my visit to Italy last year, I noticed ladies over forty wearing tiny shorts and high heels. As for me, I like to consider the length of the dress, skirts, and how much makeup I’m
going to apply. Also, my objective is to still enjoy the process of dressing up in style, but with more maturity.

Trust me, I do not have any intentions of looking like a granny, but my goal is to look sensational and in-style. Seriously, ladies, we are gorgeous just the way we are.

Question: How has your style evolved over the years?

Every week, I will be sharing my favorite dishes on the blog.

This is our favorite Lemon Meringue Pie!
This is Laura Vitale’s Italian Meatloaf.
Read the labels all the way!
For those of you like me who suffer from food allergies, be sure to read the labels all the way. Last week, as I was shopping at my local grocery store, I purchased some fat-free crackers. Thank goodness I always read the labels. On the package, the manufacturer only put the part about milk and soy in bold print. The rest of the writing stated the following: “manufactured in a facility that processes nuts and peanuts.”
This is crazy. Can they put the whole paragraph in bold? This is serious. Once again, are manufacturers only concerned about wheat and soy?
To all those who have a child or a family member with food allergies, please be sure to read all the labels in bold and fine print.

I will see you on my next update. xoxo N

Somebody, tell me where the time goes? My fur baby is already one year old. It feels like he was just a small puppy yesterday.

We celebrated Claudio’s birthday this past weekend. In between his naps, getting to know our guests, and playing with his little stuffed animal babies, I must say that he had a great birthday.

It was wonderful to have the house full of people, with Spanish guitar music blasting throughout the house. It was a beautiful, joyful, and relaxing atmosphere for our company to enjoy. I realized how nice it is to take the time to celebrate little and big things in our lives. So many of us get so wrapped up in our daily routines that we become antisocial. So, I’m planning on hosting many more parties throughout the year.

I was going to keep this blog post a happy one, solely dedicated to Claudio, but there is a problem that America needs to acknowledge. We have been bombarded with so many bad things happening in our world. For reasons not fully understood, the suicide rate in America is raising. Sadly, just last week, we lost Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain.

Today, I have decided to use my blog as a platform to help people who are suffering alone in this world from depression. So many people are struggling with sadness, hopelessness,  and are suffering in silence. Many of them don’t know how to relieve that awful pain.

Sadly, we have learned that most people who ended up committing suicide had seen a doctor. There is an urgent need to train general practitioners and pediatricians on how to recognize early signs of depression. They need to be well equipped to understand and diagnose this condition.

Many doctors nowadays are super busy, with only a very short amount of time to dedicate to their patients. Typically, a doctor only has about five minutes to address all the concerns. Sadly, that short amount of time is not adequate for digging deep and discussing emotional pain.

If you know someone who has been suffering from depression, reach out to them and be available to provide help  if you can. I will see you on my next update. Until then, stay zen and help a friend!

Hello, everyone!
I hope you spent some time outdoors and did some shopping this past weekend. The weather has been hot and beautiful in South Texas. I’m loving how bright and long the days are.
Every Sunday morning, my family and I do a “fitness walk.” Working out five days a week makes me feel happy. Moving our bodies around daily is vital for our physical and mental health.
I have been doing some shopping to upgrade my wardrobe for summer. Shopping is the best method of putting ourselves first, ladies! Also, it is the best way to cheer ourselves up if we have a stressful and difficult week. I read in a fitness magazine that people who really enjoy shopping, like I do, enjoy it because they could be experiencing a “shopper high,” just like a runner’s high.
Now, on a different shopping note, I’m happy to inform you that my new coveralls just came in the other day. Nothing tops that unwavering feeling of being excited to wear what you bought on your next outing. I wore my coveralls over the weekend for a lunch date with my hubby. Then, after lunch, we took a walk by the water. It is getting super hot here in Texas, and these coveralls kept comfortable and cool. I felt like I was wearing PJ pants. I have two more pairs coming this week. I highly recommend them. I will share the colors with you.
Thanks for reading my blog. I will see you soon! Please share a picture of your favorite coveralls!  Happy Monday to all!

XO
