Dear friends,

It has been overwhelming since Hurricane Harvey made landfall over the Texas coast. The past few days have been very difficult for the residents of our Texas coastline. As you already know, our beautiful state was hit by Hurricane Harvey.

Just a few days before Harvey made landfall, when l I first heard about the chance of heavy rain on GMA, I did not pay attention.  Here in Texas, we are accustomed to severe weather.

How did this so-called “heavy rain shower event” turn into a catastrophic Category 4 hurricane? The last time our city suffered major damage from a hurricane was when Celia ripped apart Corpus Christi in 1970.

So far, several deaths have been reported in the floodwaters, but the exact number is unclear.

Just days since the landfall of one of the biggest storms to hit the US, authorities have rescued thousands of people in Houston alone. As for our family, we evaluated the day before Harvey made landfall.  I’m grateful and blessed that our house did not sustain damage – just one side of our backyard fence will need to be replaced.

Yesterday, I tried to shop for a few items at the grocery store. Sadly, our local supermarket was just about empty; I had never seen such a thing. Shoppers were only allowed to buy two loaves of bread per family.  As I witnessed this, it took me back to my childhood, when my grandfather used to tell me stories about the food shortage during and after World War II.  Thank goodness I was there only to get a few items, since I was able to shop before leaving town.

I would like to thank the Mayor of our city, the police, and the Fire Department,  Red Cross volunteers, National Guards.   I would also like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses on duty at our local hospitals for a fantastic job when duty called. Thank you.  I’m praying for my home state, and all those who are suffering through the devastation of the Hurricane Harvey. Xo, Nunzia

Hello, my friends! I hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Have you noticed that “back to school” is trending on every social media site? As many of you parents are busy getting your scholars back in school, you realize how fast time goes by. Like me, I am sure you are savoring the last of these beautiful, hot, sunny days.
Napoli! 2017 vacay!
Lago di Garda! Summer 2017 vacay!
I love summer, but, unfortunately, it doesn’t last forever. This morning, as I was organizing some upcoming appointments on my phone calendar, I realized that summer is almost gone. However, I am determined to relish these last days by squeezing more and more time out in the sun.
I love to savor my summer by spending as much time as possible outside with the family, whether we are taking long walks in the heat or spending time at the beach. Believe me, in Texas, we are accustomed to hot temperatures. Now, with our new addition to the family, I’m getting plenty of vitamin D with my little one running around outside every five minutes.
How are you spending the last days of summer?
Claudio is ready for the game!

Zio Gigi para il rigore!

As for the game, Alex Sandro caused a penalty for our team. As always, Gigi Buffon stunned everyone and saved the penalty.  What can I say? He is a living legend.
Now, let’s talk about Juventus’ first Serie A game for the 2017-2018 season. If you are a soccer fan, and follow my blog, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Our first game ended in victory, with Juventus defeating Cagliari 3-0. As my son Patrick and I were watching the game, we could not believe that we were actually there at the stadium in Torino back in June. We visited the dressing room, conference room, and even stood at the edge of the field. Nope, it was not a dream! We were actually there! We saw Gigi’s net up close. I can’t wait to go back.
Yay! I’m happy we had a great start. It is always nice to start the season with a victory.  Forza Juve! Fino alla fine!

Ciao amiche! Hello everyone!

My husband and I are new parents!

We have  a 10-week-old puppy, Claudio. He weighs six pounds, and is a terrier mix.

Fifteen months after the death of our beloved Harry, we decided to get another dog. It was not an easy decision. We wanted to take our time.  As you know, getting a new pet is a big commitment.

This time, we decided to adopt through our local Humane Society.  Thankfully, my husband, Patrick, was checking their website for updates every night. So, Friday night, we saw our baby for the first time. By Saturday, mid-morning, he was already home with us.

I can’t explain how much our life has changed in such a positive way since the arrival of our bear. Yes, he does look like a bear up close.  I can’t seem to get enough kisses from the little guy who, btw, loves to cuddle.

The name Claudio was my son’s idea. Claudio Marchisio is the centerfield player for our favorite soccer team, Juventus.  I sent a picture of Claudio to Claudio Marchisio via Twitter, and he “liked” the picture within minutes.

As for me, I need to make some adjustments with my writing  schedule.  My priority right now is to make this little guy happy and comfortable, since he already had a rough start in life. We were told by the Humane Society that our little angel was brought to them by Animal Control. That is heartbreaking. From the moment we saw him, we knew this little guy needed to come home with us.

Yesterday, we went to Pets Mart for his first medical checkup and, on the way over, he was visibly shaking. As I was holding him, I felt his little heart beating super fast.  In his young life, he has already been through enough, I’m sure! I will keep you posted on his progress.

As for me, I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon on August 23.  According to the MRI, I have a tear in the right meniscus. I do miss running, but I’m sure I have a long way to go until that day.

I will be back soon!  Until then, be happy and stay zen. Also, if you are thinking about getting a new pet, please contact your local Human Society. There are so many dogs and cats in need of a home. XoXo!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend. I was unable to shop and do other fun things that I normally do on a   Saturday. As you know,  there are times when you just have to be a grown-up. So, I went to get an MRI of my knee. Have you noticed the scanner? It is called the Upright MRI.  Hopefully, I will get great results.

Then, on Sunday, we went to Barnes and Noble as a family. I love their hot cocoa. In our family, we all enjoy reading, so spending time there is always a huge pleasure for us. After that, we had lunch by the beach.

Anyway, I’m finally back to doing reviews on my latest Glam Bag! I was on vacation in June and, shortly after we came back home, I started writing my second article for Thrive Global. I will let you know when it comes out. Okay, let’s get started!

I’m a huge fan of night masks; I use them diligently. The latest I received in my GB is called Jasmine Waterful Sleeping Mask.  When you apply this product at night, after cleaning the skin thoroughly, you will notice a huge difference in the morning. Your skin will look bright and hydrated.

The wonderful jasmine scent makes you feel like you are in your favorite spa getting some TLC.  Also, it contains blue flower complex to help soothe and brighten dull, stressed-out skin. I will give this product 5 out of 5 stars!

The mini-concealer, trèStiQue, only works if you apply a small amount. If you use too much, you will see a noticeable area of dryness under your eyes. I really like to use it on my eyelid, right after the eye primer, and before applying the eye shadow. It will help your eye makeup last longer.  I will give this product 3 out of 5 stars.

I’m in love with Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. There are a number of advantages to choosing a liquid eyeliner instead of a powder-based option. I’ve used both and prefer liquid to pencil. The pencil smudges, and the ones I’ve used wear off quickly, whereas liquid eyeliner stays nice and clean and doesn’t fade. I will give this product 4 out of 5 stars!

I’m still trying to get used to Winky Lux liquid lipstick. Although they say this product is loaded with avocado oil, once you apply it, your lips look and feel like you have been in a desert all week. Plus, it is not easy to remove. Just the other day, I ended up using baby wipes to remove it. I will give this product 2 out of 5 stars.

Now let’s talk about our last product, the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Bronzer. I truly love this waterproof bronzer.  I love that hint of color and shimmer. It makes you look like you just got back from a day at the beach, and it is super easy to apply. Longevity is its biggest advantage. It lasts all day. I will give this product 5 out of 5 stars!

That’s all for today. Stay Zen, and I will catch up with you soon! Juve per sempre!
