Ciao amiche! Hello everyone!

My husband and I are new parents!

We have  a 10-week-old puppy, Claudio. He weighs six pounds, and is a terrier mix.

Fifteen months after the death of our beloved Harry, we decided to get another dog. It was not an easy decision. We wanted to take our time.  As you know, getting a new pet is a big commitment.

This time, we decided to adopt through our local Humane Society.  Thankfully, my husband, Patrick, was checking their website for updates every night. So, Friday night, we saw our baby for the first time. By Saturday, mid-morning, he was already home with us.

I can’t explain how much our life has changed in such a positive way since the arrival of our bear. Yes, he does look like a bear up close.  I can’t seem to get enough kisses from the little guy who, btw, loves to cuddle.

The name Claudio was my son’s idea. Claudio Marchisio is the centerfield player for our favorite soccer team, Juventus.  I sent a picture of Claudio to Claudio Marchisio via Twitter, and he “liked” the picture within minutes.

As for me, I need to make some adjustments with my writing  schedule.  My priority right now is to make this little guy happy and comfortable, since he already had a rough start in life. We were told by the Humane Society that our little angel was brought to them by Animal Control. That is heartbreaking. From the moment we saw him, we knew this little guy needed to come home with us.

Yesterday, we went to Pets Mart for his first medical checkup and, on the way over, he was visibly shaking. As I was holding him, I felt his little heart beating super fast.  In his young life, he has already been through enough, I’m sure! I will keep you posted on his progress.

As for me, I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon on August 23.  According to the MRI, I have a tear in the right meniscus. I do miss running, but I’m sure I have a long way to go until that day.

I will be back soon!  Until then, be happy and stay zen. Also, if you are thinking about getting a new pet, please contact your local Human Society. There are so many dogs and cats in need of a home. XoXo!
