This weekend was absolutely lovely.
The sky was blue, and the temperatures were in the 80’s in Austin, Texas. It has been a while since we last saw the sunshine. There has been a lot of rain lately, and the temperatures have been low for this time of the year.
While in Austin, my husband and I took the opportunity to explore the city, in search of the perfect place for  The Great North clothing brand photo shoot. For those who read and follow my blog, you already know that I’m the new ambassador for this company.
I must say that I was missing my little fur baby, Claudio, during the photo shoot. He loves to play outdoors. Instead, Claudio went to spend the day with his furry friends at D Pet Hotel in Austin. He had such a great time playing with his fur buddies. At the end of the day, he was super tired and asleep by 8:30.
We are slowly socializing Claudio to get him ready for the summer, which is when he will stay with the sitter for two weeks during our trip to Italy. It is important to start socializing him with other fur babies early.
Now, let’s switch gears and talk about my latest purchase. Just a few days ago, this beautiful black tee arrived! I’m happy to say that it fits great. I was a bit concerned about that, because I normally wear a medium, but this time I decided to order a small one. It fits perfectly.

A new pumpkin
Today, I chose to run errands wearing a casual outfit. It worked out perfectly, because I have been dying to wear these awesome and super-comfy boots. They are beautiful gifts from my beautiful Jen! So, if you are reading my blog, Jen, yes, I love these boots!
As we are sliding into the season of fall, these gorgeous and breezy days are more cozy and beautiful than ever. Today, I bought the cutest pumpkin for Claudio. When I brought it in the house, my fur baby looked very happy, and started to jump all over it.
Can you believe Thanksgiving is next month? It is amazing how fast the time goes by. That’s why it is very important to be in “the moment,” so you can capture all the beautiful moments that life offers!
You may remember that last year, right around this time, I had a knee surgery to repair a meniscus tear. Just a few months following my surgery, I went back to running. It felt great being able to get on that treadmill and do what I love to do.
Lately, however, I have started to feel pain in my knee again. After another MRI, my doctor said that I am currently dealing with bursitis. I have already received a cortisone shot, and I will be back to see the doctor next month. For now, instead of running, I depend on the stationary bike and elliptical machine to give me a great cardiovascular workout. No excuse, ladies.
We must not stop working out, or we will go insane in this super-stressed society. Set up some “me” time. Try to de-stress, and be kind with yourself and others.
I will see you on my next update.
Best,
Nunzia

Let us be present!
As you all know, self-care is essential for our happiness. Eating well, getting a good night’s sleep, and meditating helps us stay centered, happy, and healthy. Nowadays, it seems almost impossible to stay away from our devices. When I’m not working on a writing project, I truly enjoy unplugging from technology.
Yes, I hear you. In our society, we can’t function without our computers/technology. I get that. However, let us make an effort during our off-time to enjoy some relaxation without having our eyes glued to a device and our brains somewhere else. It’s like staring at a yummy looking chocolate doughnut right after a workout. Even though it looks delicious, keep in mind it is also loaded with trans-fat, which is not that great for us. It takes hard work, daily, to resist the addiction (and it is an addiction) of checking our phones every five minutes, to get updates on the imaginary world of social media..
Social media is a place where everyone is trying to make their life look so perfect. I will be discussing more on the pros and cons of technology and social media in my next article called “In the Moment.” I will keep you posted when my new piece goes live

The joy of organizing the closet
It is one of the best and most mindful activities. Everyone should do it every new season. Getting rid of old clothing in your closet must be one of the best feelings ever. Even if the item is not that old, or if you just have not worn it in a while, it needs to go. Remove it from your closet. The feeling is great. It is like letting go of old memories
My closet cleaning project is almost complete. I have been shopping for new dresses and casual jean skirts to wear with boots during the fall. I will be sharing a few links where you can update your closet without spending a fortune.
Hello, fall
What is it about fall that makes everyone happy? Maybe it is because the holiday season is not that far away.
This cozy season brings us so much fun and beautiful holidays, such as Halloween, Thanksgiving in the US, and my husband Patrick’s birthday. Then, right after Thanksgiving, a new Holiday season begins. I love Laura Vitale’s Pumpkin Spice Latte during this time of year.
I have already started to decorating for Halloween. I know it is still a month away, but this cozy weather makes decorating easy. Just last week, I purchased this adorable scarecrow. When I brought it home, Claudio welcomed this cute little doll to our house with a bark and a gentle push to the floor.
I will be back for my next blog update soon. Until then, smile and stay Zen!
Best,
Nunzia

We look good, we feel good!
We ladies feel more attractive after leaving our beauty salon with freshly colored hair. Change it up! Don’t be afraid to try something new at your hair salon. Give yourself a luxurious treat, and you will feel like a new person.

Sporting a new hair style can raise our confidence levels. Just a few days ago, I made an appointment with my hairstylist, Meghan, to let her work her magic on my hair. Honestly, I was getting tired of my dark color. It was time to change. I was looking a bit blah with my old color.
I get it. Not everyone, including myself, looks like Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner in the morning, especially for those like me who are over forty. But hey, let’s not get discouraged. Let’s prove to everyone that age is just a number. Isn’t 50 the new 40, and 40 the new 30?!
Implementing a few changes in my daily routine, such as eating a well-balanced diet, hydrating, exercising, and keeping the stress level low, can make a huge difference in how I look and feel.
As we are getting ready to approach the hottest part of the summer, with lots of humidity, our skin is not depending on extra moisturizer like it normally does during the cold winter months.
I normally apply a lightweight moisturizer with sunscreen, that way I am fully protecting my skin against harmful UV rays. Also, to prevent that dull look on your skin, be sure to change products frequently. I have been using Suzanne Somers’ product for two years. It is time for me to make a change. I will go into more detail about that soon.
These gorgeous ladies are getting ready to hit the big 50. Some of them already have. I’m inspired by these amazing beauties, by how gracefully they are aging.
As for Claudio, he keeps getting bigger and more lovable each day! On the 11th of August, he is going to have his last two baby teeth surgically removed, because they are a potential threat to his health if we leave them in. If you have a fur baby at home, you know how I feel. I’m not looking forward to Claudio’s surgery at all, but in our lives we always need to be strong.
I’m going to leave with one of my favorite quotes, from the Queen, the one and only, Oprah Winfrey:
“My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.”
Xo,
Nunzia

Ciao a tutti! Claudio refuses to cooperate with the camera!

Hello, ladies! This little peanut continues to amaze me each day. He is becoming more adorable and mischievous. I can’t believe that he is already 12 months old. As you can see on these pictures, my fur baby is annoyed with the camera. He normally loves to take pictures, but not this time.

Father’s Day!
I hope this new week is bringing you relaxation and joy. In our house, this past weekend, we celebrated Father’s Day with a great brunch at my hubby’s favorite spot in town. My husband is a huge soccer fan, so, with the World Cup currently on, he is in heaven. He is trying his best not to miss any games.

How many of you are following this event? As you know, I’m a huge soccer fan. I have been diligently, but without any enthusiasm, following the games. Both my native and adopted countries, Italy and USA, did not qualify for the World Cup. The feelings of sadness and frustration are there every time I see a game on TV.
Does your style change as you get older?
This past weekend, I did some shopping and purchased a few  adorable pair of jeans for a great price. I did not feel like this years ago. I was not a huge fan of ripped jeans. It is interesting how much our styles change over time.
As I get older, my style is becoming more simple. I refuse to stand out and look ridiculous. I like to dress more conservatively. Although I noticed, in fashion, that the geographic location makes a difference.
During my visit to Italy last year, I noticed ladies over forty wearing tiny shorts and high heels. As for me, I like to consider the length of the dress, skirts, and how much makeup I’m
going to apply. Also, my objective is to still enjoy the process of dressing up in style, but with more maturity.

Trust me, I do not have any intentions of looking like a granny, but my goal is to look sensational and in-style. Seriously, ladies, we are gorgeous just the way we are.

Question: How has your style evolved over the years?

Cooking with Nunzia!

Every week, I will be sharing my favorite dishes on the blog.

This is our favorite Lemon Meringue Pie!
This is Laura Vitale’s Italian Meatloaf.
Read the labels all the way!
For those of you like me who suffer from food allergies, be sure to read the labels all the way. Last week, as I was shopping at my local grocery store, I purchased some fat-free crackers. Thank goodness I always read the labels. On the package, the manufacturer only put the part about milk and soy in bold print. The rest of the writing stated the following: “manufactured in a facility that processes nuts and peanuts.”
This is crazy. Can they put the whole paragraph in bold? This is serious. Once again, are manufacturers only concerned about wheat and soy?
To all those who have a child or a family member with food allergies, please be sure to read all the labels in bold and fine print.

I will see you on my next update. xoxo N
